Rules and Regulations

  • Only registered members are allowed to use the Library.
  • A member shall enter his/her name, class, purpose of visit, time of entry, exit time etc., and sign legibly in the register at the entrance. Failure to do so will be treated as unauthorized presence. Members must produce their ID cards at the entrance.
  • Readers are not allowed to bring personal books, printed materials, or belongings like bags and umbrellas into the library. These must be kept at the property counter. The library is not responsible for loss of valuables such as money or mobile phones.
  • Strict silence must be observed. Mobile phones must be switched off inside the library premises.
  • Readers’ tickets are non-transferable.
  • Loan duration: Students may borrow 2 books for 15 days; Teachers may borrow 5 books for 30 days. A fine of ₹1 per day per book applies for late returns.
  • No student may borrow two copies of the same book. No book will be issued without a valid Library Card.
  • Reference books, dictionaries, yearbooks, journals, and magazines will not be issued.
  • Borrowers must check the physical condition of books before borrowing.
  • Members are responsible for books issued under their names, even if the ticket is lost.
  • If a book is lost, the member must either replace it or pay five times its value as per library rules.
  • Stealing or damaging books will lead to strict punishment, including possible rustication or financial penalty, as decided by the Library Committee.
  • Loss of Library Card must be reported immediately. A duplicate card will be issued upon payment of ₹50.
  • Readers must not write in, mark, disfigure, or damage books or library furniture.
  • The library may recall any issued book before its due date if necessary.
  • Special membership may be granted to students of other colleges, teachers, and book lovers on recommendation by the Librarian and approval by the Principal.
  • The library follows a closed access policy; users are not allowed to open or go near the almirahs.
  • The library may revise or modify these rules with approval from the competent authority.
